For those customers needing engine work, Palmetto Restorations can completely tear down the engine and rebuild it so it looks as if it just left the factory or the engine can be modified so it meets the customer's needs and preferences. For example, some customers may prefer more horsepower but want it to look like it came from the factory.
Palmetto Restorations can restore an engine to OEM specs or offer a custom-built blueprint engine package to complement the intended use of their vehicle. The custom-built blueprint engine package can include:
- Equalizing combustion chamber volumes
- Equalizing deck height and pistons
- Balancing the reciprocating assembly
- Adjusting and setting all the critical clearances in the main and rod bearings
- Equalizing the valve spring pressures
- Assembling an engine to exact tolerances
With the design-build engine package, customers are typically looking for reliable service and excellent performance. A design-build engine package is not an OEM type build and is more for those who may want a Hot Rod engine tailored specifically to them. For example, the customer may want to increase the horsepower or they may be looking for more than a Sunday driver. The design-build engine package is for those that want a step above the standard.
Palmetto Restorations can also rebuild transmissions and driveline components and advise customers on selecting appropriate transmissions and rear axle ratios. When an automatic transmission is rebuilt, all worn parts, seals, clutches, and bushings are replaced. With a manual transmission, seals, bearings, synchronizers, and gears are replaced. Rebuilding the driveline components includes rear axle assembly, replacing ring and pinion, positive traction or conventional rear end, and incorporates the gaskets, seals, and bearings.
