Palmetto Restorations Rebuilding the Muscle

Rotisserie Restoration

A rotisserie restoration is a complete rebuild from the ground up. Every part, nut, and bolt is removed, restored and painstakingly put back together. Customers are amazed at the attention to detail provided by Palmetto Restorations. For example, all nuts and bolts are removed, labeled, inventoried, and then re-plated or refinished to factory finish. After they have been plated to the correct finish, they are put back in the exact place from where they were removed.

Once the car has been disassembled, there is a review of each part to assess damage and determine a course of action. If panels need to be replaced, Palmetto Restorations uses a "compuspot" welder to duplicate factory spot welds. Because of this spot welding process, it is extremely difficult to tell that the panel has been repaired or replaced.

After the disassembly is complete, every part is stripped to bare metal. The body, frame, unibody, and body panels (door, fenders, etc.) are media blasted with plastic media. Using plastic media ensures the metal is not heated, thus ensuring no warpage of the metal.

Palmetto Restorations has invested a great deal of money in research and equipment to strip bodies and parts without harming the metal. Many parts have textures that can be altered using sand blasting or even glass bead blasting, so as a result and to protect the pieces, Palmetto Restorations ultrasonically strips engine parts and fragile parts.

After the entire car is stripped to bare metal, everything is primed and then body work is started. Each piece is painted separately, unassembled, to ensure the best coverage. You are now on the long stretch home to a better-than-new paint job.
